چکیده

The objective of this study was to evaluate the growth curve 525 monthly body weight data 19 males (n=313) and 8 females (n=212) swamp buffaloes (Bubalus b. carabanensis), from birth slaughter age (25 months). nonlinear models used were: logistic, Gompertz, Von Bertalanffy Brody. parameters were estimated by NLIN procedure, criteria adjustment given Akaike’s information criterion (AIC), Bayesian (BIC) coefficient determination (R2). results indicated that better fit Brody model than Logistic, our data. estimate for [WT = α * (1-βe-k*AGE)] 902.00±45.9912, β 0,9727±0.0089, k 0.0483±0.0044, R2 0.9748. estimation weights 24.6596±8.8367 639.6467 6.4019 kg, respectively as well maturation rate (k) achieve mature weigh (α) 902.00±45.9912 kg 0.0483±0.0044. Growth vs. buffalo rearing under intensive system 25 months old adjusted showed in a sigmoid-curve more accurate expecting these animals.

The prenatal development in swamp buffalo (Bubalus carabanensis)

There are morphological and reproductive physiological differences between swamp buffalo (Bubaluscarabanensis) and river buffalo (Bubalus bubalis). The development of fetus weight and fetus biometry wasreported in river buffalo and other animals but not in swamp buffalo. The aim of this study was to describethe inherent variability in fetus related measurements during swamp buffalo pregnancy. T...

Plasma concentrations of LH, progesterone and oestradiol during the oestrous cycle in swamp buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis).

Plasma concentrations of LH, progesterone and oestradiol were measured in 5 cyclic swamp buffaloes. Progesterone levels began to increase after Day 5 (Day 0 = the day of oestrus) and reached a plateau after Day 10. A rapid decrease in progesterone levels occurred during the 5 days before oestrus, followed by a sustained increase in oestradiol concentrations. Basal LH levels decreased towards th...

Follicular dynamics and oestrous detection in Thai postpartum swamp buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis).

This study characterized follicular activity and oestrous behaviour from 5 to 9 days post-calving up to the 4th ovulation postpartum (pp) in 16 multiparous (range 2-7 parities) Thai swamp buffalo cows (Bubalus bubalis), aged 4-12 years and weighing from 432 to 676 kg. Ovarian follicular activity was examined by transrectal ultrasonography (TUS) every morning. Oestrous detection was performed tw...

Carcass Characteristics and Meat Quality of Swamp Buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis) Fattened at Different Feeding Intensities

Twenty-four male 1-year old swamp buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis) were randomly allocated to 4 groups. One group grazed on guinea grass (GG) and another on guinea grass and the legume Stylosanthes guianensis (GL). The other two groups were kept in pens and fed freshly cut guinea grass and concentrate at an amount of 1.5% (GC1.5) and 2.0% (GC2.0) of body weight, respectively. The effect of the diffe...
